Recently I am loaned two laptops preinstalled with Windows 7. I thought this will be a chance to explore Windows 7. But they have a problem: I am told that the operating system is not genuine. It is false of course, but annoying. I don’t know what is wrong with Windows activation in these laptops.

The loaner of the first laptop also sent me a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate DVD, but without a key, so I can reinstall the OS in trial mode. The second laptop isn’t equipped with such copy. I choose to install Fedora instead. Actually I have imaged the loaned Windows 7 copy just in case, but I am just fed up with Windows activation problem.

I’ll write about Windows 7 later, if I am bothered enough to test it.
