I have upgraded the RAM in my notebook to 1.5 GB from 512 MB. Now Eclipse feels much more snappy than before, and Firefox start instantaneously. Oh, Rhythmbox is fast too.
Other than that, the improvement is surprisingly not that noticeable. I guess Linux memory management is actually quite good on 512 MB RAM.
I am using the shiny puppy above, loaned to me for review. I like the design. It is black, sleek, curvy. It is a Compaq Presario V3000 series laptop, with Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 1.8 GHz, a DVD burner, 5-in-1 card reader.
Shame it is underpowered. It only has 512 MB RAM, and using Windows Vista Home Basic. Bleh. And it only has 1 year warranty. I haven’t tested the battery yet.
